The best Felix the Cat book depends on whether you want classic comics, a history of the character, or a story about a different cat named Felix. Felix the Cat: Great Comic Book Tails is the clearest pick for readers seeking comic strips, while John Canemaker’s Felix suits readers interested in the character’s history. The other books feature cats named Felix but should not be assumed to be about the famous cartoon character. The comparison below highlights each title’s format and listed authors.

Felix the Cat: Great Comic Book Tails
Felix the Cat: Great Comic Book Tails is a hardcover book credited to Otto Messmer as author and artist, Craig Yoe as author and editor, and Don Oriolo as author. Its title and listed credits make it the most directly comic-focused choice in this group for readers seeking Felix the Cat material.
Best for: Readers who want a hardcover associated with Felix comics and artwork. Choose this if comic-book content is more important than a general account of the character’s history.
Limitation: The supplied product details do not specify the number of stories, publication period, or reading level, so check the full listing if those details matter.
Felix: The Twisted Tale Of The World’s Most Famous Cat
John Canemaker is the listed author of this hardcover. The subtitle identifies the subject as the world’s most famous cat, making the book a strong candidate for shoppers looking for a character-focused title rather than a collection identified as comic-book tales.
Best for: Readers interested in a book about Felix as a character and his story. It is a better fit than a cat-centered title with no explicit connection to Felix the Cat in its name.
Limitation: The supplied details do not describe the book’s contents or approach. Confirm that its treatment suits your interests before choosing it over a comic collection.
Felix The Cat
This paperback is titled Felix the Cat and lists Mike Federali and Bob Frantz as authors, with Tracy Yardley as illustrator. The title directly matches the search for a Felix the Cat book, and the listed illustrator may help shoppers distinguish it from prose-only options.
Best for: Buyers who want a paperback with the exact Felix the Cat name and an illustrator credited in the listing. Consider it when format and a direct title match are priorities.
Limitation: The provided product information does not explain its plot, page count, or intended audience. Do not assume it is a classic comic reprint based on the title alone.
Felix & Willow: Cat Tails Of Mischief And Mayhem
M.L. Scott is the listed author of this paperback. The title names Felix and Willow and uses a playful cat-themed phrase, but the supplied details do not establish that Felix is the classic cartoon character. This distinction matters when a search for “Felix the Cat book” means the established character specifically.
Best for: Readers browsing for a cat-themed title featuring characters named Felix and Willow. It may suit someone open to a separate story rather than a book about the famous Felix.
Limitation: The listing information provided does not include a plot summary or confirm a connection to the Felix the Cat franchise.
Felix The Railway Cat
Kate Moore is the listed author of Felix the Railway Cat, a paperback. The title identifies a railway cat, so this book is distinct from titles explicitly presenting themselves as Felix the Cat comics or character history. It appears in this comparison because it is a relevant result for searches using the name Felix and the word cat.
Best for: Readers looking for a railway-themed cat book, rather than specifically a book about the cartoon character.
Limitation: The supplied details do not provide a synopsis or other story information. Check the listing if you need to confirm its subject before buying.
Buying Guide: How To Choose A Felix The Cat Book
Do you want comics or information about the character?
For a title explicitly presented as comic material, start with Felix the Cat: Great Comic Book Tails. For a character-centered book, consider John Canemaker’s Felix. The plain Felix the Cat paperback is another direct title match, but the supplied details do not say whether it contains comics, a story, or another format of content.
Does the title refer to the famous Felix?
Not every book with Felix in its name is about the same character. Felix & Willow: Cat Tails of Mischief and Mayhem and Felix the Railway Cat are cat-related titles, but the available product information does not connect them to the famous cartoon cat. Verify the subject if that connection is essential.
Which format should you choose?
Three listed books are paperbacks: Felix the Cat, Felix & Willow, and Felix the Railway Cat. The comic collection and Canemaker title are hardcovers. Choose based on the format you prefer, while checking the product listing for details such as dimensions or contents that are not included here.
