The best books for the bath are designed for wet hands and easy handling, or offer a story that helps make bath time more inviting. Baby Einstein – Rainbow Bath! is the clearest pick when waterproof construction is a priority, while It’s Bath Time, Baby! stands out for its color-changing feature. Sandra Boynton’s Bath Time! and another Baby Einstein title are bath-book options; the paperback pumpkin story is better for reading before or after the tub.

Baby Einstein – Rainbow Bath!
Best for: Families who want a book explicitly described as waterproof. The listing identifies this as both a waterproof bath book and a bath toy, making it the strongest match here for reading during bath time.
Rachel Halpern is listed as the author, with the Editors of Phoenix International Publications credited as editor and illustrator. Choose this title if waterproof construction is your main selection criterion and you want a bath-focused option from the Baby Einstein line.
Limitation: The supplied product details do not specify the book’s page count, dimensions, or cleaning instructions. Check the listing for care guidance before use.
Bath Time! By Sandra Boynton
Best for: Buyers looking specifically for a bath book by Sandra Boynton. The supplied details identify Boynton as both author and illustrator and list the format as a bath book, so it is intended for bath-time reading rather than being a standard paperback.
Choose this if the creator is an important part of your decision or you want a dedicated bath-book format. Its simple product identification makes it easy to compare with the other bath books in this guide.
Limitation: The supplied information does not describe special features such as waterproof construction, color-changing pages, or a toy component. Confirm the product details if you need a specific feature.
It’s Bath Time, Baby!
Best for: Families seeking a bath book with a listed interactive feature. Its title describes it as a color-changing vinyl bath book, distinguishing it from the other bath-book options here.
Dawn Nesting and Cottage Door Press are credited in the supplied author information. Choose this if the color-changing element is the feature you want to explore during bath time. The vinyl bath-book format also makes it a more direct fit for wet reading than the paperback selection in this list.
Limitation: The provided details do not explain how the color change works, what conditions activate it, or how to care for the book. Review the listing for those specifics.
Scrub-a-Dub-Dub, Pumpkin In The Tub!
Best for: Toddlers who may enjoy a spooky-cute, seasonal bath-time story, especially when a caregiver wants to introduce the idea of bathing through a book. The title describes it as a story for toddlers who hate baths, and the listed format is paperback.
Choose this for a themed story before or after bath time, rather than as a book to put in the tub. It offers a different kind of bath-time support from the waterproof or vinyl bath books above.
Limitation: This is listed as a paperback, not a bath book. Avoid placing it in the tub unless the product listing specifically provides water-use guidance.
Baby Einstein – Splish! Splash! Bath!
Best for: Buyers comparing more than one Baby Einstein bath-book title. The listing identifies this as a bath book, with Kathy Broderick as author and the Editors of Phoenix International Publications as editor and illustrator.
Choose this if you want a second bath-book option from the same series line as Rainbow Bath!. It can be compared with that title by format and listed details, though the supplied information does not state that it is waterproof or has a special interactive feature.
Limitation: No waterproof claim or other specific material details are included in the information provided. Check the listing if water resistance is essential.
Buying Guide: How To Choose A Bath Book
Does the book need to go in the tub?
For reading directly in the bath, prioritize a product explicitly labeled as a bath book, waterproof book, or vinyl bath book. In this selection, Rainbow Bath! is specifically described as waterproof, while It’s Bath Time, Baby! is identified as a vinyl bath book. A paperback is better reserved for a dry setting.
Do you want an interactive feature or a familiar creator?
If a listed interactive feature matters, consider the color-changing vinyl book. If you are choosing by author or illustrator, Bath Time! lists Sandra Boynton as both. Product details vary, so compare only features confirmed in the listing rather than assuming all bath books have the same materials or functions.
What should you check before buying?
- Confirm the format: bath book, waterproof bath book, vinyl bath book, or paperback.
- Review care and drying instructions, especially if the book will be used in water.
- Check the listing for dimensions, age guidance, and feature details if those affect your choice.
- Keep paperbacks away from water unless the product information says otherwise.
